What Are Volumetric Flasks and When Should You Use Them? (8 อ่าน)

9 ก.ย. 2569 18:33

I’m learning more about laboratory glassware and recently came across Volumetric Flasks. From what I understand, they are designed for preparing solutions to a very specific volume, which makes them useful when accurate concentration is important.

Unlike a standard beaker or Erlenmeyer flask, a volumetric flask has a narrow neck with a calibration mark. The solution can be carefully added until the bottom of the meniscus reaches the mark, helping achieve a precise final volume.

I’m particularly interested in understanding when volumetric flasks are preferred over other types of laboratory glassware. Are they mainly used for preparing standard solutions and dilution calculations, or are there other common applications?

Also, what should beginners look for when choosing a volumetric flask? I assume factors such as capacity, material, calibration accuracy, and resistance to chemicals can make a difference.

For anyone working in chemistry, pharmaceutical research, education, or quality-control laboratories, I’d be interested to hear your experience. Which Volumetric Flasks do you recommend, and what factors do you consider most important when selecting them?
