Aion 2: Everything About Playable Factions (11 อ่าน)

In Aion 2, one of the first and most important decisions every player makes is choosing a playable faction. This choice is not just cosmetic or flavor-based—it defines your identity in the world, your starting region, your story perspective, and how you interact with other players in both PvE and PvP environments.
The game features a clear two-faction structure: the Elyos and the Asmodians. This split has always been a core pillar of the Aion franchise, and in Aion 2 it continues to shape the entire experience in a more streamlined and modernized way.
The Two Playable Factions
Elyos (The Celestial Vanguard)
The Elyos represent the bright, divine side of the world. They live in Elysea, a region filled with sunlight, lush landscapes, and vibrant environments. Their culture is built around the idea of being chosen or blessed by higher powers, which is reflected in their architecture, storytelling, and overall worldview.
Visually, Elyos characters are designed with a clean and radiant aesthetic. They typically feature symmetrical, idealized appearances, bright armor sets, and feathered wings in white or gold tones. Their combat style also leans into elegance, with light-infused magical effects and smoother, more graceful animations.
From a narrative standpoint, Elyos are often positioned as defenders of order and civilization, though the game does not fully frame them as purely “good” in a traditional sense. Their belief in divine purpose can also lead to conflict and moral ambiguity.
Asmodians (The Resilient Shadows)
On the opposite side are the Asmodians, who inha*** the harsh and cold lands of Asmodae. Their environment is unforgiving, shaping a culture built around survival, resilience, and adaptation. Compared to the Elyos, their worldview is more grounded and pragmatic, often defined by struggle rather than divine destiny.
The Asmodian visual identity is darker and more aggressive. Characters feature more rugged designs, with claw-like hands, glowing eyes in combat, and wing styles that resemble bat-like or spiked structures. Their animations and effects tend to emphasize raw power and intensity rather than elegance.
Narratively, Asmodians are not simply “evil” or antagonistic. Instead, they are portrayed as hardened survivors who believe their strength comes from enduring hardship. This gives their faction a more rebellious and defiant tone.
Core Differences Between Elyos and Asmodians
Although the two factions differ significantly in tone and appearance, it is important to understand that they are designed to be mechanically equal. The choice between them is about identity and experience, not power.
Feature Elyos Asmodians
Aesthetic Theme Luminous, celestial, divine Dark, primal, fierce
Starting Region Elysea – lush and bright landscapes Asmodae – harsh tundras and rugged terrain
Wing Style Feathered, white or golden wings Spiked, bat-like or dark wings
Combat Visual Style Light-based, smooth and elegant effects Dark, heavy, aggressive effects
This balance ensures that neither faction has a gameplay advantage, making the decision purely preference-driven.
Gameplay and System Design
One of the most important design choices in Aion 2 is that faction selection does not impact player strength. Both Elyos and Asmodians have access to the same combat systems, progression paths, and abilities.
All eight core classes are available to both factions:
Gladiator, Templar, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric, and Chanter.
This design removes the old limitations where faction choice could restrict gameplay options. Instead, players are free to focus on class identity without worrying about faction-exclusive mechanics.
Another key system change is how PvE content works. While PvP remains strictly divided between Elyos and Asmodians, PvE matchmaking can allow cross-faction cooperation in certain content. This means players from both sides may end up working together in dungeons or group activities when the system allows it.
Despite this cooperation in PvE, the rivalry between factions remains a central theme in the open world and PvP environments.
The Shared Threat: The Balaur
Beyond the conflict between Elyos and Asmodians, there is a third major force in the world: the Balaur.
The Balaur act as a powerful non-playable faction and serve as a common enemy to both sides. They function as a narrative bridge between the two player factions, ensuring that not all conflict is player-versus-player. Instead, the world is also shaped by large-scale threats that require attention from both Elyos and Asmodians.
This shared enemy helps balance the game’s competitive structure by giving both factions a reason to exist beyond simply fighting each other.
Faction choice in Aion 2 is less about gameplay power and more about identity, immersion, and style. The Elyos offer a bright, divine fantasy rooted in order and elegance, while the Asmodians provide a darker, more survival-driven experience shaped by struggle and resilience.
With equal mechanics, shared class access, and a more flexible PvE structure, the faction system is designed to support both competition and cooperation depending on the situation.
Ultimately, the decision comes down to what kind of story you want to experience in the world of Aion 2—and which side of the conflict feels more natural to you.
