Each new installment of the Call of Duty game draws a lot of attention and criticism as it grows to be one of the most well-known franchises in the gaming industry. With yearly releases varying in accordance with a formula agreed upon by the three production companies, every new release has long been predictable. A sufficient number of Call of Duty Points can be prepared by players.

Still, Call of Duty's recent approach has been less publicized, and fans aren't sure what the franchise's near-term future holds. The 2023 release of the IP is shrouded in mystery, but has already been flagged as an extremely important release in defining the future CoD identity. Thanks to leaks, reports, and rumours, fans can have some reasonable expectations for Call of Duty 2023.

The Unique Situation Behind Call of Duty 2023

Long after Modern Warfare 2 was released in 2022, many believed that 2023 would be the year without a mainline Call of Duty release. This would break with the franchise's longstanding tradition and give Modern Warfare 2 an unprecedented two-year lifespan.

Then it was reported that 2023 would see an "extended" premium version of the IP, leaving many unsure of what to expect. Presumably, the project will be spearheaded by Sledgehammer Games, making it its first CoD project since 2021's Call of Duty: Vanguard. Many fans originally thought that this expansion pack would be a premium add-on to the existing Modern Warfare 2, although recent internal reports suggest that this version is much more significant. Activision has reportedly decided to move on with Modern Warfare 3 as a suitable release for 2023, and it's being developed by Sledgehammer, which is a complete game-changer.

Recent Call of Duty 2023 Reports

On May 11, Insider Gaming released a report it claims to be from an industry insider outlining important details about the 2023 Call of Duty launch. According to the report, the upcoming release of Sledgehammer will be called Modern Warfare 3, completing the reboot trilogy that was recently spearheaded by Infinity Ward. This came as a shock to many fans, who might have expected a longer time lapse between Modern Warfare 2 and its successor, and many also found the drop in Infinity Ward's engagement strange. Given the success of the rebooted Modern Warfare trilogy, it seems odd that the last two games would be released in such close succession.

These reports line up with initial rumors that the 2023 CoD will be a form of MW2 DLC, adding to the validity of the information. Beyond that, the leaker claims that Modern Warfare 3 will have its own Zombies mode. The mode will reportedly be a larger-scale open-world experience similar to Sledgehammer's controversial Outbreak mode from Black Ops Cold War. Otherwise, it contains the typical campaign and multiplayer modes.

Finally, these leaks also claim that Modern Warfare 3 will herald a brand new core map for Warzone 2. According to reports, the map will be Las Almas, a fictional location that will be significant in Modern Warfare 2's campaign and multiplayer. Las Almas is located in Mexico and has a significant thematic difference from the current Al Mazrah map. If that's true, Modern Warfare 3's surprisingly close release window makes all the more sense, since the title could neatly capitalize on the popularity of Warzone 2 and its mainline predecessor.

This report is of course still unofficial, and the final product released could look very different. However, these reported details dovetail with some long-running rumors, giving fans a***d idea of what to expect from Call of Duty 2023. For more game guides, please refer to u4game.top.
