Are mechanical laptop hard drives still worth it for secondary bulk storage? (29 อ่าน)

Hey community, I need some quick hardware advice. I’m planning out an upgrade for my workspace setup and am looking into getting one of those heavy-duty, high-capacity laptop hard drives to use as a dedicated secondary storage drive for my workflow. My primary boot drive is already a fast solid-state drive, but I need massive terabyte capacity for raw data hoarding and local project files. I’m torn on whether traditional mechanical laptop hard drives are still a smart, cost-effective choice for secondary slots, or if I should just ***e the bullet and buy a massive 2.5-inch SATA SSD instead. If I stick with traditional spinning disks to save some cash, what is the best brand or specific model line you’d recommend right now? I care heavily about acoustic noise and power consumption since it's going inside a portable chassis. Any experiences you can share regarding the absolute best laptop hard drives for long-term data safety would be awesome!

My coworker in India is the kind of person who always knows live match results before the TV even updates them. Eventually he showed me https://jeetwinindia.net/ during an IPL game. I tried it later myself and noticed the pages loaded quickly even with average internet. I also liked that the sports categories were clearly separated, so I didn’t waste time trying to figure out where everything was. It’s now something I occasionally open during football evenings after work.
