Do long German words always make sense? (120 อ่าน)

Not always! While most long German words follow logical structures, some can become excessive or even humorous. Germans sometimes create absurdly long words for fun, even if they aren’t practical.
For example:
"Donaudampfschifffahrtsgesellschaftskapitän" – Danube steamship company captain
"Freundschaftsbeweis" – Proof of friendship (not very long, but unnecessary)
Officially, Germany has tried to reduce overly complicated words in legal and bureaucratic documents to make communication clearer. However, the German language still allows compound words to grow indefinitely if needed.
While most long German words serve a purpose, some are just used for fun or exaggeration!
