Abhishek noted that West Indies remain dangerous even after losing several wickets. He explained that India had prepared for situations where the visitors could be 50 for 5 but still possess enough batting power to change the match.

That mindset helped India remain disciplined during the crucial stages of the chase.

Abhishek Overcomes Slow Start

Abhishek's final score of 69 from just 30 balls played a major role in India's total of 223, although his innings began unusually slowly.

India managed only 13 runs from the first 14 deliveries and lost Sanju Samson for three during that period. Abhishek explained that West Indies had a specific plan for him, with offspinner Roston Chase bowling the opening over.

Rather than taking unnecessary risks, Abhishek respected Chase's bowling and focused on finding scoring opportunities during the Powerplay.

Explosive Partnership With Ishan Kishan

Abhishek changed the momentum during the third over when he found the boundary through the cover-point region before hitting Chase for two sixes.

He then combined with Ishan Kishan for a spectacular second-wicket partnership worth 108 runs from only 40 balls. Kishan contributed a quick 37 from 18 deliveries as the pair provided India with the platform for a massive total.

Despite the small dimensions of the ground, Abhishek said the pair were not specifically trying to target more boundaries in one particular area.

Abhishek and Kishan's Strong Bond

Abhishek also explained the importance of helping Kishan settle quickly whenever he arrives at the crease.

The two batters have developed a strong understanding through their previous partnerships, including their time together in the IPL. Abhishek said he tries to keep Kishan relaxed so that he can play his natural attacking game.

Their familiarity allows them to communicate easily without spending too much time discussing conditions while batting together.
