Just moved to Wappingers Falls, do I need to switch lawyers? (6 อ่าน)

This is such a specific situation but hoping someone here has been through something similar. I originally filed my claim when I was living in Brooklyn and working for a moving company down there. I hurt my knee pretty bad carrying a piano up some stairs and my lawyer in the city has been handling everything okay I guess but about three months ago my girlfriend and I moved up to Wappingers to be closer to her family and now I'm wondering if I should be looking for someone local instead. I have a bunch of upcoming hearings and the train ride to the city is honestly brutal on my knee plus I feel like my lawyer is always rushing because he's got so many cases in front of the same Brooklyn judges. I started looking around for a workers comp attorney Dutchess County based because it would just be so much easier to drive to Poughkeepsie or even Kingston for appearances. My only worry is that if I switch now will the new lawyer have to start from scratch or can they just pick up where the other one left off? Also I'm nervous about whether a lawyer up here will know the city rules if my case technically originated down there. Has anyone made this kind of move mid claim and regretted switching or was it actually better in the long run? I'm sitting here with all these medical records and paperwork and just feel stuck.
