Hey all, wanted to share my experience visiting Ait Benhaddou since this community helped me so much with planning. I was a *** worried it might be too touristy or overhyped, but honestly it was one of the most magical places I've ever been. I used a detailed Ait benhaddou travel guide I found online that recommended going late afternoon and staying until sunset, which was perfect advice. The light hitting those mud-brick buildings was incredible and by late afternoon most of the day trippers had cleared out so it felt much more peaceful. I crossed the river (there were some rocks to step on, my feet stayed dry!) and climbed all the way to the top of the granary - the view over the valley is unreal. A few tips if you're planning to go: wear***d shoes with grip because the paths are uneven and can be slippery, bring water because there's not much shade once you're up there, and definitely have some small change because local kids will offer to guide you and expect a few dirhams. If you're debating whether to make the trip, do it! Happy to answer questions for anyone planning their visit.
