Planning a SaaS product from the initial idea (9 views)

When starting a new SaaS project, what do you think is worth defining first? I’m trying to understand how much should be planned before talking to developers. Is it enough to have a clear idea of the target users and main problem, or is it better to prepare a more detailed list of features, technical requirements and plans for future development as well?

I recently explored various approaches to building SaaS products and came across https://peppernode.co/. I wanted to understand the stages involved in bringing a cloud service idea to life, as development can appear deceptively simple from the outside. In reality, one must consider architecture, the user interface, testing, scalability, and ongoing maintenance. My advice to anyone starting such a project is not to limit yourself to merely outlining the core features. It is better to think through the target audience, the problems the product solves, and what the initial working version should look like. Having such a plan in place makes subsequent discussions about development much easier.
