My paving stones sank after winter (23 views)

Is that actually normal? Honestly, I expected the paving stones to settle a little, but I didn’t expect them to sink so much that there are holes everywhere. Either that’s normal, or I just ended up hiring the wrong people.

I don't know exactly how the ground is prepared before installing paving stones, asphalt, or anything else, but that step was probably skipped. It's frustrating when you end up with people who call themselves professionals but clearly aren’t.

The base wasn't prepared properly. Or they messed something up with the drainage. Did you ever contact them? Maybe there's some kind of warranty, or maybe they would cover the damage. When these guys worked on my place https://oakshs.ca/keswick-interlocking-services/, they explained how important it is to prepare the base properly and prevent water from getting underneath and collecting there. In winter it will definitely freeze, then you'll end up with empty spaces underneath, and that's what causes the sinking.
