That clunk over speed bumps is getting worse – steering rack? (11 views)

For the past few months I've noticed a dull knocking sound coming from the front end whenever I go over a speed bump or a rough patch of road. At first I thought it was worn shocks but those are only two years old. Now I'm noticing that the steering feels a *** vague on center and there's a tiny *** of play before the wheels actually respond. A buddy of mine who used to be a mechanic said it might be the rack bushings or the internal gears wearing out. I'm looking for a properly trained rack and pinion fix Dubai because I don't trust just any shop to mess with something as critical as steering. I saw Dynostar's steering page and they seem to have experience with rebuilding racks rather than just swapping them. Has anyone here had a knocking noise over bumps that turned out to be the steering rack instead of suspension parts? Really don't want to spend on new shocks if that's not the problem. Also how dangerous is it to drive with a worn rack? Starting to get nervous.
