How does an Audi transmission diagnostics center actually find the problem? (22 views)

My 2016 A7's gearbox has been acting up lately, sometimes slipping in reverse and occasionally refusing to downshift smoothly, so I know I need to get it checked before something major breaks. I'm curious though, when you take it to a proper Dubai Audi Transmission Diagnostics Center, what do they actually do differently from a regular mechanic who just plugs in a scanner and guesses? I've heard about things like measuring clutch adaptation values, checking solenoids under load, and even borescoping the valve body, but I'm not sure if that's standard or just marketing talk. Does anyone here know what a real diagnostic process looks like for a DSG or ZF gearbox, and whether the extra cost for a specialist is justified over someone who just says "rebuild it"? Trying to understand what I'm paying for before I hand over my keys.
