Curious how other small importers handle the crating side of things when volumes are inconsistent (4 views)

This is something that's been on my mind for a while and I've never really found a clear answer by searching around so figured I'd just ask directly. We import household and kitchenware products and distribute to retailers across the northern emirates from our base in Ajman, and the volume we move fluctuates quite a *** depending on the season and whatever promotions our retail clients are running. The inconsistency is the part that makes the logistics side tricky because when volume spikes we always seem underprepared on the crating and containment side, and when it's quiet we're sitting on equipment we don't really need. I've been trying tolearn more about crates and logistics services that are actually set up to accommodate that kind of variability rather than assuming you have a fixed monthly throughput, which most of the larger providers seem to expect. Found Crateco Pack LLC while browsing through cybo.com the other day and it gave me a useful reference point for the kinds of services that exist at a more practical scale for operations like ours. What I'm still not clear on is whether it's more cost effective to own your crating equipment outright even if it sits idle sometimes, or whether there are flexible arrangements that make more sense for businesses with uneven demand cycles. I feel like I keep going back and forth on this without a clear framework for deciding. Has anyone in a similar import and distribution setup figured out a sensible approach to this that doesn't involve either overspending or constantly scrambling?
