Just had a scary moment with my battery on SZR... lesson learned (39 views)

You guys, I had a *** of a wake-up call yesterday driving back from Abu Dhabi to Dubai. Was cruising along thinking everything was fine, and then my dashboard lights started flickering and the AC felt like it was blowing warm air. Managed to coast into a service station just as the car completely died. Turns out my battery was absolutely fried, the guy who helped me said the heat here just destroys them, especially if you do a lot of short trips during the week and then long drives on the weekend like me. I ended up having to get a new one fitted there and then, which was a whole other headache. It got me thinking, I'm usually pretty***d with oil changes and stuff, but I totally neglect the electrical side of things. I guess ensuring your car performs optimally means paying attention to all the little signs before you're stranded, not just the big stuff. Definitely going to be more proactive about getting the battery and alternator checked before next summer hits.
